Andrew Keen on Cheerleaders and Creative Destruction at next09Veröffentlicht: Mai 8, 2009 | |
Excellent speech from Andrew Keen on next09: Digital Vertigo – Inequality, Anxiety and Isolation in the Social Media Age. Andrew Keen strongly disagrees with Social media evangelists like Jeff Jarvis and Umair Haque. He criticizes their ideas to „idealize the future“ and says they aren’t analysts – they work within the media landscape of silicon valley. He talks about radical individualism, privacy, importance of institutions and the so called „new ideas“ in the changing media landscape. He emphasize the potential of the digital revolution but demands for a broad discussion about the undermination of institutions.
His talk was powerfull and inspiring, but don’t forget he has also a book to sell.
